38 degrees This government is doing its best to rip up our NHS and sell it off, piece by piece. Next week, we have a rare chance to stop them. Next Friday, MPs will vote on whether to scrap some of the worst parts of the Health and Social Care Act. That’s the law that let private companies like Virgin and Harmoni stampede through our NHS in the first place. [2]

Winning the vote is a long shot. It’s a Labour MP who’s trying to get these changes through. Conservative and Lib Dem MPs passed the Health and Social Care Act in the first place - so most of them won’t vote against it now.

But win or not, political parties need to know that 38 Degrees members haven’t given up or gone away - we’re still here, we still care, and we’ll take every opportunity to get rid of privatisation in our NHS.

Every MP turning up next Friday is a nightmare scenario for the government. They don’t want the headlines, and they don’t want to actually have to defend their flagship law. So together, let’s make sure every MP is there. And let’s get as many as possible to listen to their constituents and vote the right way.

Can you email your MP today to ask them to turn up and vote the right way next Friday? It’ll take two minutes to email your MP, and if enough of us do it, it could make sure they turn up. Click here:

Hundreds of thousands of us campaigned against the Health and Social Care Act back in 2011 and 2012. [3] Now we’re seeing the impact of the Act on our beloved healthcare system: in just one year, over £10bn of NHS funding has ended up in the hands of private companies like Virgin Care and Care UK. The quality of our health services is under threat. [4]

The vote next Friday is a huge opportunity for us to raise the political stakes on the NHS before next years’ election. The more of us who email our MPs, the clearer the message: we won’t sit back while our healthcare system disappears into private hands.
