We are incredibly excited to report that DIY Space For London has secured a space in south east London.

We will be renting the ground floor of a warehouse just off Old Kent Road towards South Bermondsey, and cannot wait to turn it into the self-sustaining venue for radical culture, events, gigs, community meetings, social change organising and much much more – which we think you'll agree, today of all days, is just what this city needs.

To everybody who has helped us reach this point, whether you donated, attended or organised a fundraiser, volunteered or just gave us an encouraging word or two: THANK YOU! After all the enthusiasm and ideas and excited conversations there’s finally a physical space where we can build upon, and for that we’ll be needing your help…

Wt the moment it is just an empty building with a lot of potential. Toilets, soundproofing, electrics, walls: the lot needs adding. Over the past few months we have gathered a large group of interested volunteers (and we will be contacting you shortly!), but we can always do with more.

• Building is going to be our top priority at this stage. We need carpenters, plumbers, painters and architectural designers for our planning and build team. If you have experience with building regs, planning permission and making buildings accessible, do get in touch!
• Finance and legal volunteers will also be required. Do you have accountancy skills? Experience with dealing with the finances of co-operatives or charities? Experience with business rates and corporation tax?
• We’ll also be looking for events organisers and anyone with a head forcommunications, particularly when we’re ready to open up.
